PC Fair 2007

Busy crowds even at the entrance

Ah once again PC fair has come and gone as if it was just yesterday, this year’s fair as usual was held at PISA (Penang International Sports Arena). There was however a significant difference this year, and just when I thought that the PC fair in Penang would never grow, I was proven wrong this year as the fair grew significantly bigger this year.

Woo… it’s so bright and pretty!

Instead of just stalls in the main arena, there are now stalls lined up along the outer rim of the stadium, where there would normally be some career fair by JobStreet.com or some other mish mash of stalls. This year saw the enforcement of a one way traffic flow just as the KL PC fairs, with one entrance and one exit, forcing visitors to go through all the stalls before exiting the fair. Though one thing I noticed was there were not many stalls selling LCDs, Samsung was not even present, Viewsonic was the only big player present showcasing their latest line of LCDs. Kind of a disappointment for me as I was hoping to scout out some LCD prices. I was able to scout for digital camera prices though as Lam Loong and Olympus was present. There was quite a deal for the Olympus u770, at RM1599 and several free gifts that consisted of a 1gb memory card, additional battery, tripod, umbrella, carrying case, looks like I’ll have to start saving and wait for the next PC fair to get this heavy duty and adventurous camera.

Surprisingly though the crowd this year was not as big as I remembered, maybe it’s cause of the expansion to the outer rim that spread out the crowd, well that’s good news as it doesn’t fell like a sardin can which is a major put off for PC fair goers. Well I hope to see the fair keep growing and hopefully some big names will come in, especially game companies like Gamefliers to come spice things up a bit with their games and collectibles and of course magazines like GameAxis to offer their subscription offers to us Penangites and not just concentrate on KL only. Here’s looking out for the next PC fair for more great deals and offers, till then remember to start saving some cash to spend at the fair!

Sun, Beach, Girl(s) - Day 2

The pearl of the island

Ah finally day two has arrived, with breakfast served at 7am and the first snorkeling trip of the day at 9am, there’s just no time for me to sleep in late, instead I had to wake up even earlier than on normal working days. Some holiday huh, but surprisingly I did not feel all that tired or sleepy waking up at this early hour, maybe it’s just the excitement of being on holiday fueling my mind and body. Well anyway, I set my alarm to 6am last night, and sure enough it rang, but I shut it up a few times until it was nearly 6:30am when I finally dragged myself out of bed and hit the shower before the others woke up and made a line. After taking a shower I went out and just strolled around the area, enjoying the morning breeze and the sights, beaches are always so calming, with the waves coming in, hitting the white sandy beach, it just makes you feel so relaxed and easy going.

Bomb on the bridge!!

Bombings happening everywhere in the world, terrorists on the rise, the feeling of security and safety of traveling eroding. US has seen the most devastation with the destruction of the World Trade Centre, Thailand had it’s fair share of bombings, is Malaysia next on the map for bombings? Well it could be likely, what with the massive jam on the Penang Bridge just yesterday with the fear of a bomb sighting on the bridge. Yes your little Pearl of The Orient has just got it’s share of bombing ‘action’ even if it was a hoax, or perhaps a preemptive scouting routine of terrorists to do some serious damage? Whatever the case is, I really hope the authorities will be on their toes and stay alert of the security of the state and country, the last thing we need is seeing one of our landmarks get demolished by explosives. Now let us all pray the madness stops with yesterday’s hoax on the bridge.

I’m back!

I’m back! I’m back! Yes I’ve survived scorching sunshine, nausea inducing waves and the unknowns of the deep blue seas. Yes it was a fantastic adventure over the clear blue seas. Well it’s not exactly Pirates of the Carribean kind of adventure, and no there was no Kraken or mutilated fish men from Davy Jones ship. It was just a simple 3 days 2 nights stay at Redang Island off the coast of Terengganu. It’s been ages since I had plans to visit this island getaway, since my uni days actually, never came to be until now, well better late than never I suppose.
