Sick again!

May 29th, 2007 | 6 Comments | Posted in Chronicles

As most of you may have noticed, I haven’t been very active lately in posting on my blog, the reason being I was sick, and being sick throughou t the weekend is not something cool. I had to work late on friday, as some pathetic people from India decided that the website MUST go live on that day itself, which initially was planned to be launched on Monday. The worst part is they only emailed me the data and links to be added to the site on Friday itself! Believe me, copy and pasting 150+ links is time consuming and not one of your most interesting tasks. But wait, that’s not all, the decision was suddenly made that links with zero information should be removed, oh geez, why didn’t anyone think of that earlier? In fact, why bother sending those links in the first place since you want them removed later on? But hey, what are we small fry to say? No matter how illogical, idiotic or simply indecisive requests we get, we still have to follow through, what a sad reality, which brings me to clients AGAIN! Oh, don’t get me started on that bunch again. Anyway, by the time it was 5pm I already felt a bit of a headache, but I thought maybe its the stress build up from dealing with THOSE PEOPLE, so no big deal, just had to continue with my work and wait for the final pieces of information and hopefully finish up the site before 7pm. No luck there, but there was feedback complaining that some links were not pointing to the right pages, duh, I already told you I don’t have the IDs and requested them from you, and when it finally registers I’m being told that the huge list of links for the text links has those IDs as well, right, should have said that earlier, and now its like some 7pm or so.

Ok now I’m feeling a bit warm and the headache is still there, must still be the stress, what the heck, just wanna get this damn site done and get back as soon as possible. And I’m constantly thinking why do they need to change the homepage design every two months or so. Perhaps they have no work to do and just had to produce something for the higher ups to see, or they just enjoy torturing me with these last minute requests. Finally nearing 8pm, the page can be considered done and uploaded, time to go. Well when I reached home, still felt quite ok, but an hour or so later things started kicking in, feeling body temperature rising, head is splitting, and throat is terribly sore, what’s worse? There’s additional phlegm to irritate and make my throat itchy, causing me to cough and further hurt my already sore throat. Later on even had a running nose, now that’s really an all in one package. This would persist through the weekend, I was practically KO’ed on Saturday, sleeping for most of the day, went out a while in the morning to get some chinese medicine, which did not really work, tried the dose of antibiotics from a previous consultation as well, did not even feel its effect.

Before I knew it, it was already Sunday, had to go to a doctor and get some potent medicine, and I’d probably need an MC on monday as well with this splitting headache. And sure enough it was needed, heck the sore throat is still around even now. Damn I hate sorethroats, itchy throats, hope it goes away real soon. Time to get some rest now. Cheerios!

Clients, clients, clients…

May 18th, 2007 | 3 Comments | Posted in Chronicles, Just for Laughs

Ok everyone deals with clients, and there are many types of clients, you have the typical client, understanding client, dumb client, lame client, and obnoxious client, well there’s probably more but we’ll leave it at that for now.

The typical client is - somewhat annoying, can be understanding if properly explained to, demanding, might act like he knows more than you about your own job, fussy and often times tries to be a smart-ass.

The understanding client is - most of the above, but is more willing to listen to reason and explanations and actually accepting them, and gives you less of a hard time.

The dumb client is - dumb, does not know what he wants (believe me this is not always good), willing to listen, and will typically make you run in circles trying out everything since they do not know what they want exactly to begin with, a slight pain in the neck and tedious.

The lame client is - similar to the dumb client but less willing to listen, might know a bit about what he actually wants, often times trying to be smart and gives lame requirements and ideas which will be argued with you till either party gives in, resulting in either a better result or totally lame ass result (hey we can do so much with explanations and advice)

The obnoxious client is - always trying to be a smart ass, thinks they know better about your work than you do, asks for ridiculous things that either can’t be done or is totally unsuitable and still insists that it gets done even after you have explained to them a million times. Thinks they are always right because they are the clients, unwilling to listen and is out to get their way even if it means jumping off The Petronas Twin Towers. The obnoxious client will more often end up with lame, dumb and sucky results which actually serves them right for their obnoxity.

The deadbeat client is - is dumb enough to think that your work should be cheap because the computer does all the work, obviously they think the computer is alive or something. Simply refuses to pay at all at when the job is delivered or complains and insists on a discount because your work supposedly does not meet their standards or requirements.

Now let’s see how many people agrees with me, or perhaps you all have more to add on? I would be happy to add on to the list. If you’re wondering how I thought this up, well a request today was the inspiration for this post, should I be thankful? Haha, I think not, as it took an hour just to amend the job that would be totally unnecessary if the client had prepared the needed materials and does not have a mind as volatile as an unstable isotope. Anyway I rest my case here, you may feel the same way, or treat is a joke, that’s up to you, and no offense to all the clients out there, it’s just a personal interpretation. Peace

My Celebrity Look-a-Like

May 9th, 2007 | 9 Comments | Posted in Chronicles

Was over at Zee’s blog and saw this interesting post on the celebrity look-a-like website that matches your photo against celebrities, attempting to find matches of your look-a-likes. Well below are my results, not what I expected though, you’ll know what I mean when you see the matches I got.

Oh my, Mariah Carrey is my look-a-like, separated at birth maybe?

I tried another photo, which wielded more male matches but albeit at a lower percentage, does this mean I look more like a girl than a guy? Anyone who’s interested to try it out head on over to their website by clicking on the two big images above, you’ll probably be amused by the results as much as I was

Down with flu

May 2nd, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in Chronicles

If there’s a common illness that I so totally hate and want to avoid that would make the common cold and flu it. It causes your nose to block up or overflow with mucus, worse still backflow to your throat and make it itchy causing you to cough, and the cough will inevitably lead to a sore throat, and if your throat gets infected it could lead to a fever, it’s a bloody chain reaction! And this chain reaction is now happening to me, I reckon it started out with my colleague coughing, since I’m sitting next to her, I knew it would come sooner or later, and sure enough it spread on over to me, what with my dad coughing at home as well to further reinforce the infection, in a week or so of contact and I’ve contracted it as well!

Sore throats I hate, but an itchy throat is even more hated, what with the build up of phlegm and the duration it takes to go away, it’s been two weeks and it still won’t go away! Now I have a feeling that my throat is infected as well as the soreness just won’t go away as well. Just great, this had to happen on a holiday, sigh, takes the fun out of it, well at least I get to rest at home, so guess it’s not that bad after all.
